Hi Landrover Pistonheadonisties,
I have a 2005 Defender 110 XS,
currently have a decat downpipe and straight through centre section along with an EGR removal kit - truck does feel more "eager" now !
as with anything still want more, dont do any offroading but want a fair lick of speed on the road - stage one remap or a full uprated intercooler and stage 2 remap
any experiences from anyone and best place to go for the upgrades

There are two that I would recommend :-

Twisted Performance

J E Engineering (I have their stage 2 on my Puma engined 110 XS and it is wicked)

You'll get 200bhp from either. Maybe more.

200 horses,
hmmm.......thats quite an increase from the standard 120-ish,
what is a td5 capable of "reliably" without being too smokey or thirsty or liable to blow up ?
Any one got experience of IRB Developments tuning products ?

by all reports IRB are great to work with twisted get mixed reviews but the do do big power gains and alot of people are pleased with them. Exhaust manifold warp at 180 bhp+ but people machine out the standard one to cure this.

Its been done............WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!!!!!!!

my 110 Defender XS is now sporting an IRB developments stage 2 tune to include-
Full size replacement intercooler
Silicone intercooler and turbo hoses
High flow green cotton air filter
Decat stainless downpipe and centre exhaust section replaced with a straight through item in stainless
Strong Stage 2 remap along with a few "tweaks"

Before the work was carried out Ian if IRB gave my Defender a full diagnostic check which highlighted the MAF sensor was reading incorrectly and starting to deteriate.

I replaced the MAF with a genuine Landrover item then fitted all the above mentioned items myself before going back for Ian to work his magic with the laptop.

After a couple of trial runs and a few altered settings we were both happy and Ian actually commented on how strong the engine felt and how it performed bearing in mind its a 110 with XS spec and so has some extra wieght to carry !

Overall extremely pleased and the performance for a Landrover is shocking !!!

Just need a trip to the better offset wheel and sporty rubber department now lol

you could get the exhaust manifold ceramic coated internally, it is well known that after a remap TD5's warp the manifolds and snap studs/bolts due to higher gas temps.

I thought that was more of an issue on TD5's that had simply been chipped without any further thought for getting rid of hot gases quicker - decat downpipe and uprated intercooler
