We have a Freelander 2 and want to change it for a Disco 4 XS.

Went to a dealer today and it was all very nice but no real desire to talk turkey.

They offered £11k for the F/L 2, which is an "S" version with leather and better wheels. I thought that this was a bit tight as the car only has 17k miles and I've not seen a 57 car for less than about £14k.

Does anybody know of any good dealerships that would be willing to do a deal rather than just trying to palm you off a new car with no discount and a crap part ex deal?

Thanks for your help

Where do you live.

There is hardly any discount being offered on Disco 4, s because they are currently out selling supply. Most dealers will want 3-4k profit in your can and they may have to factor in refurb costs.

People speak well of the main LR dealer in Derby.

Ring round a few franchise and non franchise dealers to see what bids you get for your current car to see what it's true trade value is. Try selling your car privately...

Coast2coastcars have saving of nearly 5k off list price. Looking at the specs I think I'm going to go for the GS model and add leather , sunroof and xenons. I can live without nav.

If anyone here is driving the new disco 4 can you give me a heads up on fuel consumption.

Had mine for 6 weeks. Ave 28 mpg with mixed driving (mainly commuting) it's the 3.0 V6 diesel XS with a few extras on it. Brilliant so far and no regrets

You can add the leather and xenons for less money AFTER you take delivery. See the disco3 site. Seatsurgeones do loads of work for the dealers. £900 for all 7 seats. Xenons (certainly for the D3) can be had for £250 a pair on ebay. Not sure about D4 ones, but cant be long!

I had a super deal from Marshalls of Bedford...traded in my Disco 3 and they gave me good money.

Had the Disco 4 GS Auto now since Dec and fuel consumption is around 27mpg urban driving and 29-30mpg on motorway....I must say though the 3.0litre Diesel twin turbo giving 240+BHP really is a pleasure to drive and if you want it to move...press that pedal and it moves....no more hesitation like on my Discovery 3 GS 2.7.

So try Marshalls of Bedford
Andrew Hills is the guy we dealt with...very professional and helpful

Turns out Coast2coast deals are only for business users. They're coming back to me with a few prices as I might run it on my business.

My local dealer has offered me their demo HSE in black/black with 5k on the clock for £43500.

Gosh them prices are back up. I met a guy who bought an 57 HSE from a dealer a year ago. Prices were on the floor and he bought it for £22K

Yes very easy,
buy from Ebay or disco3 forum (new or 2nd hand).
Open bonnet, unclip and remove grill, slide up a couple of 'bars' that hold lights in place (mole grips are best), lift out and unplug light, plug in new light and refit. If it takes more than 10 minutes then your tea break was too long.

Be careful to buy the correct lights though - you dont want the adaptive ones (they have an extra bulb in the corner). If you check the Disco3 site it confirms model numbers etc...

There are threads from 'slimer' on the D3 site where he sells a new set for £435 +vat (which is big reduction). Watch out as ebayers often want MORE for 2nd hand ones. When buying 2nd hand make sure the bulb is fitted ! I paid about £250 for a pair.

WBAC comes up with £11,075... and that will only go down... so the Dealer's offer doesn't seem too bad...
