Anyone else come across this problem?
All previous MOT's are class IV but the guy at KF said it would be breaking the law for him to test it as the vehicle weight is shown as 3050Kg on the plate under the bonnet.
Booked it in elsewhere and they seem to think it's class IV but they can do class VII too.
Shame is KF are the cheapest tests by a long way but now they won't do it and I've wasted my time taking it there this afternoon!
Any thoughts and anyone else had this problem.
It's an L322 RR Vogue by the way.

I don't know for certain, but I'm fairly sure an RR doesn't weigh over 3 tonne. Think they were looking at the wrong numbers.......

GVW is 3100kg or so on an L322. Don't know which weight they use for MOT though.

I think they were looking at the towing weight. Kerb weights are between 2435 kgs and 2570 kgs depending on spec etc, gross is 3050 kgs. It's classed as an Estate Car.

It has a max gross weight of 3050kg doesn't mean it weighs that?
What's the cut off point?

Anything over 300KG is class 7 MOT.

Assume you mean 3000kg but that's goods vehicles between 3000kg and 35000kg DGW not plated weight.

To the OP it may have been too big for their ramp but unless it's registered as a goods it isn't class 7

Yes, I mentioned it to the garage who MOT my van (a Pher btw!)
He said it was bks. Probably KF didn't want to risk the weight of your RR on their old Class 4 lift smile

Thanks for all the replies. Guy at KF said their ramp was certified for 3 tonnes......so cos of the extra 50kg on the bonnet plate he wouldn't lift it but even so he was adamant it was class VII. Oh well. Booked in elsewhere now that can do class VII if it comes down to it smile
Will let you know outcome in about 11 days....

I think you'll find the 3050 is the GVW not the kerb or unladen weight. I had alook on our chart today and the heaviest RR or Disco I could find was about 2200kg kerb. VOSA work out the kerb weight as the unladen weight of the vehicle with 140kg added for driver and surplus stuff that may be carried.

If only someone had posted the weights of Range Rovers earlier on in the thread...
