Rear crank oil seal in 2001 P38 4.6 vogue

Is changing the rear crank seal in a P38 as bad a job as I think it is?
I've done the job on my Griff when I changed the clutch and it wasn't much fun either...

Is the best thing to leave it alone until I really can't stand the oil use or am I risking damaging the torque converter?
