This post follows on from the topic 'P38 ABS Fault/ Traction Failure Warning'.

Turn on the ignition - can hear the pump running so not convinced its that, first thing to pop up is 'ABS Fault', followed shortly by 'Traction Failure'.

Visually checked all sensors, all seated correctly, dont appear to have moved.

This is before the vehicle moves or is started.

I had to go to 2 garages before I got one that could read the diagnostics on my car (i really dont want to line Landrovers pockets with £100 for the privelige). They plugged it into their machine and the fault is apparently 'ABS Wiring Fault'. I was hoping it was going to be a simple sensor issue - alas it's never as simple at that with a P38!

The local indy also get the same fault.

Anyone come across this before? Ideas for bits to check?

Might be worth checking the harness/looms along axles/and/or connections, 'ringing' each circuit (checking continuity).
Apologies in advance if thats telling you how to suck eggs

No apology required! So if there was a bit of a bad connection on one of the sensors - would it not highlight the corresponding circuit sensor? Or isnt it that clever?

There presumably arent that many wires to check - 4 sensors, connection to ABS pump...connection to ABS ECU - any others?

Im wondering which ones would be most vulnerable, probably the rear sensors?

Just a quick follow-up, my local Indy managed to sort this out - it turned out to be the ABS ECU. An easy fix - but the part is massively over priced. Its almost £500 from the stealers - but they got a new OEM Wabco unit for just £190. Highly reccommend Whites 4x4 in Edinburgh, much more helpful than Landrover dealer, honest and very keenly priced.
