I've been wondering why.

How many Defenders have been made over the years compared to Sports?

You would think Defenders would far outnumber them in PH Classifieds??

Not so. 85 Defenders for sale. 315 Sports for sale yikes

Sports mostly bought on credit as a fashion item, bubble payment due and no bunce to cover it?

Just a guess that's bound to offend wink

'Bit of property on the side mate' Merchants.

Either that or people have done their equity on them and now they're stting it having come to the realisation that a profligate depreciating asset on the drive to impress the neighbours isn't as comforting as cash in the bank.

I think they're utterly utterly wonderful cars but they have become the poster car for entirely the wrong sort.

people are trading in for the MY10 facelifted RRS (still selling like hotcakes it seems despite all the issues)

I would hazard a guess that Defenders are bought or were more often bought as workhorses and lifelong cars. The RRS is like any other car a lifestyle choice of transport. Not sure that reads how I mean it but hopefully makes sense. As such RRS will be replaced sooner rather than later by another car or a newer RRS.

Also as has been pointed out the facelift on the 2010 RRS will attract more buyers of existing cars who will part ex; but probably more importantly the old 2.7 TdV6 has been replaced by a more powerful and by all means more desirable 3.0 TdV6. The even torquier TdV8 remains the same, but the gap is now smaller.

As such, to answer the question, all of the above??
