What to buy?

I brought a BMW engined MG ZTT to go up and down the motorways for work, and then moved house to a farm on Dartmoor. Poor ZTT and my poor OH's new shape beetle are taking a hammering, grounding all the time.
Totally stuck when it snowed (next doors Disco made it out).
We live about 3 miles of lanes and dirt tracks from a main road, but I also do travel a lot for work. I have about 5500 to spend and my thoughts so far are as follows.
Disco, Freelander, L200, Shogun, Surf. Whatever I need diesel.
Any suggestions / advice would be greatly appreciated as I am hearing contradictory things from people I know!

Go for the Disco.... but prices have gone up over last 4 months...expect 27mpg out of a TD5

Also worth considering a Shogun...stay away from L200 -- ride is terrible.
