Im looking for a set of spotlights for the classic. Ideally i want some that are easily removable (dont want to spoil the lines of the car) but i would like a bit more brighter light for offroading at night. Anyone reccomend any? Ideally i would like 2 that can be wired into the high beam and also on a seperate switch. The brighter the better really.

You need to look for driving lights, these usually have 55W bulbs, but may be changeable to 100W provided you keep them cool. Avoid fog lights, the beam will be too diffused to be really useful. When wiring them in run a couple of relays for the circuit, the first to switch them on when the mains are on, the second with a manual switch. The relays ensure that your main beam is not affected when you turn them on manually.

Thanks for the information about the relays. Id definatley be looking at running the 100w bulbs. By keeping them cool do you mean just not using them for long periods of time?

I would be more inclined to wire them to main beam but with a switch giving the option of not having them on with main beam - ie so they can only be switched on when with main beam is on, but automatically go off whenever you dip the beam. I would assume you only want them on when main beam's on otherwise they would seem a bit pointless. In this way you can get away with only one relay. Take the switching feed for the relay from the main beam circuit and via the switch. Then wire the main feed directly from the battery via a suitable fuse. Makes wiring and usage much easier.

I've got 130w KC Daylighters. Very well made, and come with all the loom, switches, etc you need. Not cheap but excellent.

Do they still have yellow covers with a smiley face?

Yep, very handy as a tray for nuts and bolts in the garage, I haven't been brave enough to fit them....

By changing the bulb for more powerful ones they generate more heat, so the body of the lamp needs better cooling to prevent the bulbs blowing. The KC daylighters are designed for higher power bulbs so no problems with that.
