Another boring "what's it worth" question!
Discussion
Morning all, sorry for asking yet another of those questions!
I'm trying to value my SIII 88" Landie. It's got a V8 conversion, it's a truck top with pickup bed, and I do have a full set of hood sticks for it and an unusual truck-cab soft top. It's taxed, MOTd, and the only fault I can think of is that it occasionally jumps out of 2nd gear on overrun, although you can hold it in place easily. Large-ish wheels & tyres. It's uber-reliable even when not used regularly, and provided the battery is charged, it always starts.
The thing is, it's tatty as hell! I love it, I love the fact that it's tatty - I think it adds a certain something myself - but that won't be everyone's bag. I'll try and get some pictures, but it's tatty in as much as having the odd scrape here and there, and it's been painted black but the paint has peeled back in places, not large, but the original blue is visible here & there.
I'll be very reluctant to see it go, but due to a convergence of several different circumstances, I need something which will cover long distances more easily, hence I'm leaning towards a Jap pickup of some sort (Hilux-type). That's utter heresy, I fully realise, but you have to do what you have to do!
Friend of the family is interested in the Landie but I have no idea where to pitch the price. I'll try and get some pictures up in a bit to help with your thoughts. Thanks.

Thanks Jem, I'd only seen the blue hybrid previously. I'm guessing that puts mine at something like £750 with a year's ticket.......?
I think it's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it TBH.I'd give it a lick of paint and make it look nice, fair do it might not be how you'd want it, but it'll make it more desirable and easier to sell, and make it a lot easier to get more for it.
Stop it! ;-)
It reminds me of the fantastic Series II v8 that I didnt buy 2 years ago for a grand.
A friend who worked for Mclaren F1 was off to Italy to work for Ferrari. So he was selling his landie that had been in McLaren 'family' ownership for many many years - sold between different engineering employees. so amazing mechanical condition, great chassis etc etc..... I looked at it and test drove it but for some reason decided against it. Been kicking myself ever since.

As with everything, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is....
My brother borrowed it during the week to collect a large trailer which he had bought. The truck completed a 150-mile round trip without incident and, in his words, "flawlessly". However, when he got back to his place and was reversing the trailer, he damaged the tow hitch and the rear crossmember.
Upon investigation, I found that the nearside of the rear crossmember has got significant corrosion, which I was totally unaware of before, and I'm quite sure that it wouldn't pass an MOT in August as a result until this is repaired/replaced.
I don't have the time or energy to set about this myself, and can't see any point paying to have it done just to bring it back up to the value which I'd previously set it at, so my intention is to list it on eBay with a full explanation and take pot luck. It's still driveable and still legal with an MOT, but I'm guessing that even at a small independent repairer, there's probably £200-plus of labour and £75 or so for the replacement section, so let's see what she fetches with an honest advert out there on the Big Bad Bay
