Barcelona Trip - Volcano
Discussion
Just back from a 36hr round trip to barcelona in the TDV8 and thought I would share some musings. I left caen at 07:15 and made Salou, where the stranded wife and daughter were, by 20:00 hrs. I stopped for fuel once and stopped for a snooze of 40mins. My average speed was 76.7mph overall according to the trip computer and I got 26.3mpg. I stopped overnight and we all set off next morning at 08:15 and made Caen about 21:30, including a couple of stops. My main point is that there are not many cars that you can do near on 800 miles in 12 hours virtually non stop and not feel tired. OK it costs a bit more in fuel but with the ipod blasting proper music at a proper level driving on the fantastic French road network, where drivers understand lane discipline, it was an absolute breeze. Now to start hassling Insurance/Tour Operator/Flight operator to try and recoup the £1000 it cost to do the trip.
Cleaned the millions of bugs of the car first thing this morning.

On monday I had a 22hr return journey to Milan to pick up my stepson and his mates after they got back from South Africa. I used a TDV8 RRS for the 2000km round trip at an average speed of 91km/h and 10.2l/100km (about 28mpg). It took me 9 hours to get there with a max speed of 192km/h achieved in Germany
