Defender upgrade questions.
Discussion
I've recently purchased a Defender 90, mainly for cruising round Spain/Portugal with a spot of camping in some more remote locations and don't really want to go down the roof rack route so I was wondering if there are cargo nets available (can't find any despite searching) that could be attached to the roof where it joins the uprights? My thinking is that I could then use this ceiling space for storage - any ideas would be appreciated.
Also, for light offroading duties would simple diff guards be sufficient? There seem to be a range of prices from £18.00 up to £60.00 but I'm unsure whether its worth paying for the better quality ones?

There are loads of storage options available, some custom, some off the shelf and many home made. Buy a Landy mag and have a look. Also, for light offroading duties would simple diff guards be sufficient? As for off road, what do you plan to do? Diff guards look nice but don't offer anything unless you are rock crawling.
Off roading: tracks, rocky river beds plus some shallow fording - possibly up to 500mm. Looking at Landy magazines but not found anything yet other than the previous suggestion, but I'm sure someone has thought about using the roof void for storage with a cargo net so hopefully this will be conifrmed tomorrow.
Thanks for the replies so far.

I used a cargo net below the roof of our 110. The problem is that it needs to be stretchy to allow you to get stuff into it, so anything heavier than a coat means it sags.
Thinking about it now (we had so much storage elsewhere that it wasn't an issue at the time) a webbing net with buckles is probably the way forwards.
