i left my defender 90 at birmingham airport. when i returned after a week both the doors had been damaged around the locks some tea leaf had tried to get in but the broke the push button mechanisms on both doors so although they had unlocked the doors they could not open them. i had to get in from the rear door and climb over.

i have now had to shell out a load of dosh on new door handles and straighten to doors i have now welded in some extra steel behind the door locks.

talking to guys at craddocks they are gettin alot of this and lots of 200tdi's are going missing. because they dont have imobalizers. they are worth a fortune in parts.

beware where you leave your trucks and try to fit some kind of imobalizer i have made my own so next if they do get in they wont get it away.

LRO said something similar this month, they said pre-immobilised Defender TDi's are being targeted.

They're very easy to steal, a lot of them end up being shipped to africa and other far off countries where they are worth a fair bit of money.

I would say you were fairly lucky for it not to have been taken.

I've got a 'full metal jacket' pedal box for a Defender 90 for sale if you fancy it!

The only trouble is that they turn up with a flat bed if required and simply winch it on. So unless the car's physically chanied to the ground, there's always going to be a way of nicking it. That's why I deliberately leave mine looking tatty (honest guv)!!!
