I have seen in a main Land Rover dealers a great car with a perfect spec, the only problem is it was imported from Holland when new. The dealer has informed me that it is a full UK spec car and will give a Land Rover approved warranty with the car. Is there any way of telling if the car is full UK spec? ie a certain code in the VIN for UK cars?

Don't know the answer to the vin question, but I would just get the LR dealer to confirm in writing that it is full UK spec. That way it covers you for any possible future issues....

The other thing to bear in mind is that there's no such thing as a Land Rover import, as they were all built here anyway smile

I would also ensure the price is reduced to reflect the cars history as most dealers will offer a lower price if it's not been supplied through a UK dealer when new.

I am a bit confused, is the car LHD or RHD? If RHD why was it in Holland in the first place?

At one stage it was cheaper to buy a Brand New Range Rover from Greece or Turkey in RHD than it was to haggle your local dealer.

The car was of course built in the UK, supplied to a foreign dealer and shipped back for less than you could negotiate off the UK price.

As mentioned i would get a letter to confirm full UK spec as different countries can have different Spec's. There should be a UK Spec code, unless they are all built the same which i doubt.

We bought a Porsche Boxster from an importer which was meant to be a C16 car, C16 being the code for UK spec. When we got the car home and started playing with all the bits and pieces noticed there was no A/C, thankfully the invoice stated C16 UK Spec.
The Dealer wriggled like hell with all sorts of excuses and promises, thankfully our solicitor managed to force his hand and we ended up with a full refund after almost a years use and 10000 miles.

Re the Warranty i am pretty sure it is valid worldwide as far as i know, however i would haggle for some money off as when you come to sell the next owner may have the same worries as you.

I done something simillar with my RRSport TDV8, but I bought it in the UK and took it to Belgium. I saved another 10% (£6000+) off of the lowest price I could get one for here in Belgium. The local garage here has no problem in waranty work, they are quite happy to take LR's money smile
