Has anyone got first hand experience of converting an L322(I think? '06 type vintage) 4.4 petrol Rangie to LPG?

I'm looking for advice as to whether it's worthwhile with regards to running costs and also as to where the tank is sited.

Any views appreciated!

Phil.

The tank is fitted in the spare wheel well so no boot space is lost (95 litre tank of which about 75 litre is useable). Obviously, you'll lose the stowage for a spare wheel (replaced with a can of tyre weld in mine).

You will get approx 17mpg on gas which gives a range of about 250 miles with "normal" driving. Given the price differential, it equates to low 30s mpg. A system costs roughly £2500 to fit and will pay for itself in 14000 miles. If you do less than about 8000 per year or don't plan to keep the car, decide whether it's cost-effective.

There are a number of systems on the market. Mine is a Prins but whichever you end up with (JE and others will point you in the right direction), an electronic multi-point system is what you need. It's tied into the ECU and is fully automatic.

Mine is a BRC system
I can highly recommend the use of LPG I had a 4.6 P38 on gas as well.
As stated if you are doing the miles it will pay for it's self nicely.
There is no loss of performance.
I can't find fault with LPG cars. Apart from the spare wheel and movement of air compressor.

Good stuff, thanks for that.

Got a little more homework to do on reputable companies in Scotland etc. but it could well be a goer. It's a very attractive proposition with the reduced values of used petrol RRs and the 12-18k miles a year I'd be doing in it.

I've covered the cost of the conversion plus the first year's depreciation so far.
