Please Help!!!!
I'm thinking of either having a remap or fitting a tuning box. Which would be the best for improving the fuel consumption? If it is a tuning box which make do you recommend?

They are both achieving pretty much the same thing. Essentially a crap remap will not be as good as a craply setup tuning box and vice versa.

I'd personally just go with whatever company has a good reputation. I've personally never heard bad things about Twisted Performance, but there are loads of tuning firms.

It seems twisted or JE engineering are well respected.

well known problem -- weak gearbox in TD6 .... I would leave it standard.

nothing wrong with the TD6--I have a 300bhp / 500lb torque one in my offroad racer -- pull a house down -- I use a 5 speed Tremac 600 gearbox--about only thing which will take the torque !!

Thanks to all for your comments & I think I will leave well alone. Is there any way of getting better fuel consumption?

I'm glad I went for the V8, yes the fuel costs are high but most people reckoned there was about 4-5 MPG in it between the petrol and the diesel so I didn't think it was worthwhile, if I could stretch to a TDV8 though I would in a second.

To the original poster, what kind of MPG are you getting?, a TD6 should be 22+
LPG is your friend.
59ppl at 17.5mpg.

I had my TD6 remapped a few weeks ago, it made one hell of a difference, the engine is a lot smoother and has a lot more power, not only that, but it now returns 28/30 mpg.....would recomend it to everybody, infact i was so inpressed that the lad also done my mercedes vito sport which i use for work.

The lad that came to my house ( tyne and wear ) certainly knew his stuff and i would reccomend him to everybody
