Its civvy spec.I've not seen it yet but the chap tells me the previous owner bought it from an MOD resale agent and it has military history. It's certainly got the bog basic interior and basic 2.5 petrol... It's obviously not an FFR and it's 12v.
Full m.o.d spec had had jerrican side locker bins. Not visible in the pic. All came with the 2.5 naturally aspirated diesel. Cant see the military 'bumperettes' on the rear, and it should have a military bumper on the front with a tow pin fitted. And heavier duty chassis. inside the biggest give away is the 6 way light switch mounted centerally in the middle of the dash. Its more than likely a civvy spec one that has been 'procured' by the m.o.d. I had an ex E.O.D 110 procured the same way.
f
king thing broke down while I was driving home, front diff
But, she's really not bad for <£1k. Good chassis, very little body rust.
I've bought a couple of good condition defender seats and a few tins of nato green paint.
Am on the lookout for a shabby v8 manual range rover to pinch the engine and box from.
Will flog the current wheels and tyres and get some black modulars and some new tyres. She's had new dampers recently so I'm not going to bother lifting and increasing tyre size.
I reckon a cubby box and some floor insulation matz will make her a much nicer place to sit for a few hours at a time.

Definitely has the bumperettes but no central light switch or convoy lights. The side locker bins have been removed and panelled over by the looks of it, no idea why
Seems a bit of an odd combination but she's in decent enough condition and there's no structural rust

Failed the mot in spectacular style
The list is growing:
Wheel bearing
Fuel tank
Brake lines
She also failed the Emissions test.
Doh.
Still, the tester was complimentary on the chassis and bulkhead.
Really can't decide whether to go for a 200 tdi or v8. Suppose a tdi will be better for resale but I really want a v8!

Why not a V8 with gas? I was looking for one for ages, but gave up and bought a late Classic Range Rover V8 auto - apart from the V8, almost everything I didn't want. Still, its fun in that special cheap old Land Rover way...I lost about £100 on the ex-mod van. New owner is picking it up tomorrow.
Here's the new one:
Galv chassis and footwells, good bulkhead, 3.5 v8, long MOT and reasonable condition. New exhaust, new shocks (+2" but no cranked radius/trailing arms), new seats and full insulated mats.
Might need some new doors (some bi-metal corrosion) and a respray to make her really nice... Box feels a wee bit sticky too.

I bet it sounds nice. Any clunks from the transmission??Here's the new one:

Of course it will have clunks in the transmission.
Bloody hell my new one with 24,000 miles has clunks in the transmission!!
