Pretty sure bluetooth was an option, it was on my RRS anyhow.
The LR bluetooth system didn't include phonebook, but a software upgrade from Dealer provides that. It's approx £120, worth asking the dealer to do this foc as part of the prep before you collect if you're buying from a LR Dealer.
Works quite well, depends on phone obviously, works with all my phones - couple of samsungs and iphone

Your Iphones should be fine, mine connects and works very well.
Slightly O/T you might want a good charger/connector to play the ipod through car's stereo, best one I found was made by Kensington. Sound quality is very good as it connects throught the bottom socket instead of the headphone socket.

I was wondering about playing the iphone, we are changing from a A4 and i used a connects2 with an sd card. I need to check the audio unit ive got. it's not the basic, it's the one with the telephone on the right side of the unit, if that makes sense. Does the Kensington connect to the back of the unit, do you know what connections are in the back.
Thanks for all the help

Can't remember the Audio connections that well on the freelander, but I guess it will be similar to the RRS.
It has an aux in socket at the back of the centre console, where there is also a 12v socket/cig lighter.
If your setup is similar, the Kensington one worked best as it had a seperate lead for the aux in and power, that merge into one plug for going into the iphone. Charges as well as plays ipod, whilst bluetooth still works.
Was a bit pricey at £55 from Apple store, but worth it for the sound quality and tidy setup of one lead instead of two.
I have 3GS and as I said connects fine with LR bluetooth, but have heard of some connection problems with all iphone models for some people.
Enjoy your new car!

enter the last 6 digits of the chassis and then find your phone from the list, it will then tell you what will and wont work.
As said, you can get a software upgrade usualy
