Range Rover P38 Instrument lights

Hi everyone. Being the proud new owner of a 1998 P38 I find I have no instrument lighting when the side or headlights are on. I can't see a switch anywhere! Is there a "secret" switch anywhere please?

On top of the indiator stalk there is a tab. Work that to one side and the instrument lights should come on.
