Looking at the prices GS v XS v HSE, seems to me the best buy is the GS, even when spec'd up to 'almost' HSE its £9k cheaper. The only goodies it will lack is the smooth leather, sat nav and multi change CD. Me thinks top rate Garmin and I-Pod will perform better than the LR standard kit. Previous models could'nt get any where near HSE spec, even when all options specified. Land Rover oversight.

Anyone getting any discounts on the Disco, best I can get is £500's worth of goodies thrown in.

Discos are hard to get at the moment. We've sold our allocation at work now until November. We can get cars from group but not exactly built to spec. Best buy i'd say is the XS. still less than a HSE and buy the time you spec a GS your at XS money.

Working on your £9k less your adding £4k options to a GS? You'd be better to get a XS with the nav at £42k and have a slightly better resale. Although I do agree with your theory, you'll be talking Nov/December delivery for one, where you can get an XS quicker.

You should be able to get a little bit more than £500 of goodies (guessing you've been offered free metalic?) I could help but i'm in Newcastle upon tyne and forum rules prevent me trying to.

In the time it took you to get a semi-official LR reply I looked at a few brokers

2-3k seems achievable without haggling
The D4 is still relatively new so bargains will be hard to come by

Note I bought my own RRS at a 25% discount from a main dealer

This illustrates 2 points:
1) If you dont ask you dont get
2) Timing is everything

Good luck

Yes it was new

I bought an 8.5MY on a new 09 plate

At the time the recession was fashionable and 4*4's were pretty unpalatable

I was offered the same deal at several LR franchises around the country
(I travel widely so it was no hassle to try a few and play them off against each other)

AFAIR the list for a TDV8 was approx 57k to the spec I wanted

I paid 42

Having been offered this deal at the 3 dealers I visited around the UK Im curious as regards what the posters here from the competition have to say

More to the point to satify my curiosity what would an 09 plate TDV8 RRS be worth in PX against a new Disco4 HSE at list??
15k miles, FSH etc etc etc

Cheers

Very good price you got their Staffs, although I would think that was a unique time for buying and pretty close to the bottom of the premium/4x4/sport car market due to the recession. IIRC LR weren't building any cars at that time, due to trying to clear the backlog of unsold cars.
Also it was the runout year for the RRS before it's facelift, so would have been harder to shift the models about to be updated in 6 months.

But still a very good deal.

Since the introduction of the MY10 cars, D4, RRS & FFRR and the 'recession' recovering the demand/residuals have improved, so I doubt that a deal like that will be available anytime soon.

P/ex value I would think around mid to late 30's. The demand for the old TDV8's is there at the moment.
