Baby Carrier in a TD5 Commercial
Discussion
Has anyone fitted a 'travel system' type baby carrier into a TD5 front seat as I'm having a couple of issues. the carrier is the one you use for the first 6 months or so and secure using the seat belt.
First issue is that the seat belt is too short, this isn't too much of a problem as I can easily fit a longer one, but....
The front third of the baby carrier thing is unsupported as it sits off the front of the passenger seat base, I'm not sure how secure it would be if we were to have a frontal impact, I have a feeling it might 'submarine' out under the seat belt.
For some reason, the wife isn't keen on my suggestion of strapping the pram containing baby down in the back and leaving it at that. I have a feeling that Land Rover will probably sell us something hideously expensive which we'll use for 6 months and then consign to the loft, so I'm keen to avoid that route if possible.
Any ideas?

The carrier thing doesn't have a base, it's the one you use when the child is tiny, more like a cradle that you wrap the seat belt around. Or do you mean the seat base? Bit impractical.
I'm thinking we might end up buying her a runabout at this rate (the LR is the second car, we have a Legacy for everyday, but I travel away for a couple of days with work every now and agin and the wife doesn't want to be left alone without being able to transport the sprog).

Same problem in early Disco 1s in the rear seats - belts weren't long enough. However there is a longer belt with a slightly different part number so you might find the same goes for the front seats on yours. e.g. here's a drivers side one for a Disco 2 TD5:

Rimmer's don't list a passenger equivalent but they do list two normal length ones with different part numbers so might be worth calling them in case it is an error.
