Fitting rear mud "flaps" on Disco 3

WTF are you supposed to do with the little black enamelled metal bracket? The Ikea style fitting instructions are absolute rubbish. OK, I can see you take out the top mounting screw on the wheel arch extension, put a plastic insert in the hole in the arch and then screw the flap to those, but you're also supposed to take out the screw underneath the wheel arch extension and fasten the bracket to it, somehow. I can't work that bit out at all. Help!

I have fitted these recently so may be able to help. You need to lie on your back under the car from the rear, then look up and behind each of the exhaust heat shields. Bend it back a little and you will see a mount for the bracket, screw the bracket on here, then the mud flap to the bracket/wheel arch liner. It is much easier to see with a torch.
