Dear All,

The wife's RR is now approaching 60k and I am panicked with all the talk of gearbox failure (£4k to replace).

Should I be doing something to prevent it ? I know the gearbox is supposedly sealed for life etc, but if I ask my indy to flush and refill will I extend the gearbox's lifespan ?

Thanks

Hopefully it will extend the life. Having chatted to my indy on such a subject, an oil and filter change should have been included by LR as part of the Inspection II but they didn't.

I would suggest that by not doing it, you are more likely to have a failure at around 100k or so therefore spending an extra few £££ on your service bill for preventative maintenance is likely to save you a lot more in the long run.

most auto box failures are due to dirt in the valve block. A simple fix and flushing will help.
