Right, after getting carried away on ebay the OH has bought a 1993 RR classic. He writes this:

Basically after having a new exhaust fitted on it the other week, on the way home what I thought was a blow out turned out to be an expired n/s suspension airbag.

Fortunately ebay came to the rescue and 2 x rubber "bladders" were purchased. After much messing about with a poor trolley jack on removal of the wheel it turned out the perished airbag had popped off the top cup. Anyway I have now got the replacement airbag fitted the compressor is not kicking in before and it's sat like a low rider on its bump stops. The lights on the height adjustment do now flash for a period which I am sure they did not before? After trying to get the heated seats working the other week I see these things have lots of ECUs under the seats eek Any ideas how I can fix this?

On a side note there is a rocker switch that looks like an electric window switch under the driver's seat, what is it for?

That rocker switch will lock the air suspension where it is and not allow any adjustment. I use mine to lift the car and then lock it so it doesn't drop on my head!
It would be worth running the car in both switch positions just to check if you have had it locked until now.
