Cooked v8 Discovery 2

The engine on my Disco has spat out all its coolant,tried a new stat from LR and checked the water pump,only done 89K.I have a spare engine but its an earlier one without the air injection,does anyone know if you can disconnect the injection or will it bugger up the Bosch Motronic system.If not looks like I will have to change the heads.
