'54 V8 Vogue gearbox "sticking"

My Vogue has developed a slight gearbox issue when it has been running for over an hour. It seems to want to hold onto the gears right up to 4k revs before it changes up. It's almost like it's gone into sport mode. Even if I move it into manual, I can't "force" it to move up a gear. It just sits in 3rd until it gets to about 75mph, hits 4k revs, then moves into 4th. Similarly, if I slow down, as soon as it revs drop to 2k then it drops a gear and gets the revs back into the 2-4k range.

If I turn it off and on, it resets and is fine for a while, but if it's still warm, then the fault re-occurs very quickly.

There are no warning lights and no messages on the dashboard disply.

Anybody had anything similar or any idea what it might be? I had a coolant hose replaced last week, but I can't really see how that might have caused it.

Cheers Nappler. Given that the rad has had a couple of bottles of Rad Weld and I've replaced one cooling hose already, that sounds like an eminantly plausible explanation.

Definitely better news than a new gear box!
