HI I have a 55 plate Range Rover Vogue SE, as it has started to get cold I have set the timed climate to come on before I get in, in the morning.

It seems like it is not coming on so I changed the time for whilst I was in the car. It seems like the fans come on for about 10 seconds and then go off.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and any ideas on how to fix it?

Many thanks

Joe

Petrol or Deisel?
Timed climate isn't a Fuel burning heater.
Should have a remote?

Hi it is a diesel one, it was the fan that came on when I checked it this am. Have not got the remote any more to test it. Does the manual button on the counsel do the same thing?

Can the OP please clarify so that we can provide a relevant answer?

Thanks @ viggen114, any ideas of how to fix, just so you know the normal heating is working perfectly.

Joe, are you sure the car actually has a fuel burning heater?

All cars (with nav screen anyway) have the timed climate system you access via the menu, but all it usually does it set the cabin blowers to come on which can help cool the car for you on a hot day before you get to it. It doesn't have any warming function; my 2002 petrol is like this and confused me until I poked around enough to find it doesn't have a fuel burner fitted.

If it definitely has a fuel burning heater, then I've no idea why it's not working I'm afraid, although perhaps it's worth trying to get a replacement remote control for it?

Mine's a 2005 Touch Screen TD6 so same set up.

Have you tried pressing the "Manual" button on the timed climate screen (without the key in) to see if it comes on?

Try removing fuse 59 for the FBH (behind the glovebox) for a few minutes, and let the system reset.

I just got a remote for mine off ebay - best £37 i ever spent ! No sign of frost this morning, whilst all the neighbours were scraping their windscreens biggrinbiggrin

Joe,

The heater is either an Eberspacher or Webasco.
They both operate pretty much the same.....

On switch on the blower starts, a fan that blows air (exhaust)
the glow plug is heated for 12 to 30 secs
the fuel pump starts to pump, it is a specific metered pump
the water pump starts up

as soon as the flame detector senses a flame the glow plug stops
if the flame goes out the flame detector shuts it down

the temperature sensor controls the fuel flow (when water return reaches temp fuel is slowed) and turns the vent fans on

All controlled by an internal or external ecu, any fault shutdown.

Mine is a retrofit on a defender, when it breaks I take the whole lot off and set it up on a bench.
Yours may not be so easy, there will be a truck repairer locally to you who may help.
One hint, if you do it yourself, google the part number. I got a pump from (believe it or not they were the cheapest) from a BMW main Stealer, same part fitted to 7 and 8 series with fancy aircon.

so what do your screen prompts look like?

the diesel has this secondary heater whilst the petrol doesn't?

as previous poster, ours only cools for the summer as far as I'm aware confused

All diesels have the webasto heater, as the TD6 engine does not produce enough waste heat to heat the cabin. The heater runs in paralell with the engine when temperatures are below 5 degrees.

Some petrols have it as an option, but they are rare.
