P38 Alarms/Security
Discussion
I guess I am preaching to the converted here...... but not a good idea to let the battery on a P38 to go fully flat!
Mine has been stood for a couple of months whilst I have been running around in a truck for various events, and went to start it at the end of last week. Battery was dead - to the point where the clock was not running and it would not unlock remotely.
So, unlock the door, pop the bonnet and out with the jump leads....... you'd think.
Firstly, the jump leads were in the spare wheel space in the boot - which you can't get to easily when the only door you can unlock is the driver's door!
Then, when you do connect power to the car, cue the P38's complex security system...... messages on the dash of "Engine Disabled" and "Key Code Lockout"
All sortable, but not if you are in a hurry!
Spent Saturday morning getting everything going again, and it was an excuse for an extended cruise around to charge the battery back up again!
Google suggests that it is worth unlocking a P38 with a key from time to time, to make sure that the microswitches in the door lock don't fail, so that the EKA (Emergency Key Access) code will work!

I always used to keep a copy of the remote re-synch procedure in the glovebox. Not so handy when you are outside and can't get in!
