Dear All,

I'm looking for your expert advice ....

The wife's FFRR (TD6) has suddenly started a worrying habit. When cold and reverse is selected the car judders very subtly, no obvious loss of power, rev counter does not alter. Similarly in first going very slowly it just is noticeable.

On the back of a long journey yesterday it did the same, but this time on the motorway, no loss of power at all and it seemed to happen at around 2000 rpm, would this be a turbo issue ? The car accelerates fine and has no problems otherwise.

Any ideas as to what this is ? May be a service will sort it out ? Or perhaps a new gearbox....

I'm still yet to find out how to check when the next service is due any ideas ? If red leicester is there do you know ?

Thanks

RedLeicester

Ello matey. When you turn on the ignition, there should be a little row of spanners in the LCD bottom left hand corner of the dash binnacle... or it may be a row of 4-5 black blobs.... may or may not be accompanied by a mileage..... (been too long, can't remember the finer points of it!) but that'll tell you how long you have to go before your next dealer bumming.

Shudder in both forward and reverse.... only low speed? Sounds more like a bush / mounting or box issue than turbo...

Is this a symptom of the front Diff recall problem?

Thanks Red Lec !

I cannot see anything indicating a service.

I know that the service indicator has been working (the oil service came up) but as yet there is nothing for a regular service.

My concern is that the indy I was using has turned the service indicator off accidentally (if this is possible ?) whilst reseting the oil service indicator.

I think I may just have to go back to the LR stealership and get everything sorted there. It hasn't had a service yet and the wife has done over 20k in it. I'm sure it needs one !

Thanks again

Frank

Nae worries chap. They are on variable service intervals and it will flex depending on how you/she drives - ours tended to demand a service circa 18k, so 20k sounds like it's about time!

Had similar on my FFRR (4.4 V8) and it turned out to be the front prop. It's only little and the whole thing is only £70.

Oh, and when you turn it on, the mileometer will initially show you how many miles you have to go to a service for a few seconds, then flick to main display.

Thanks for the replies chaps !!

I can however state that the display does not show the mileage to service.

Could the indicator have been switched off accidentally using the diagnostic software when it was having the oil service done ?

It is a 2005 TD6

I know there is nothing wrong with the display as it scrolls through all the usuals.

It's not on the main message display, it is on the bit above there. There are 3 boxes, left to right on mine they are: total mileage, trip, outside temp.

On mine (a 2002) The left hand one, total mileage, will show how many miles you have left until your service, with a green arrow illuminated in the box to the left as it does it.

They may have changes this on the 2005 facelift, but I am not sure...
