Hoping someone can diagnose the latest Freelander 'fault'.

At slow speeds, with the steering on right hand lock there's a loud groaning (almost like a cow mooing)sound coming from the engine bay

Any bright ideas what it could be? (There's plenty of power steering fluid btw as even I can check that)

As the car is up for replacement soon I want to get an idea before I decide whether it's worth repairing.

(The car's a 2001 75k mile TD4 by the way)

Cheers

are you holding the steering wheel 'hard over'....or does it make the noise as soon as you start to turn right normally

it doesn't happen with a small ammount of lock but occurs before I'm totally hard over

making anything more than a 60 degree turn say

Do you feel it snatching back through the steering as well on lock?
