Freelander 1 Window Conversion

Hiya Folks,
A friend recently told me later model Freelanders used arms for the electric windows rather than the (crappy) cable arrangement on early models. If this is correct does anyone know if is it possible to replace the old system with the new one?
Both fronts have recently gone and I am on my 3rd rear one; I am getting a little fed up with replacing them although in fairness, I am quite good at it now!
