Hi just got my old rangy back from my old girlfriend for me to fix and sell as usual. I have a problem with the rear window water jet. It does not squirt water. Is it on a separate water pump from the front water jets or the same one etc. Also my front wipers dont work on the intermitant setting. Do you think these problems are related i.e from the steering column control arm ??? Is it a common fault? Can any help me on it. Gra

I have had a similar problem with the rear washer jet. Like you worried that it was a pump somewhere in the depths of the engine bay and was going to be a nightmare.

It's actually probably an easy fix (if it was like mine). The pump is independent from the fronts and is located behind the wiper mounting at the top of the tailgate.

The trim at the top / inside of the rear screen just pulls out of about 8 clips and then you can access the pump / pipework.

I could hear the pump running on mine (when someone else activated the washer lever) and when I detached the pipe between the pump and wiper unit water flowed freely (into a bucket in the boot, obviously).

All I had was a blockage in the last 6 inches of pipework or the jet itself and with mouthful of water and some blowing and sucking on the tube to the jet I soon had it cleared. Careful not to ingest too much but it's only water and a little soap.

All fixed in a matter of 10 minutes.

Worth a try if you have 10 minutes and will at least aid you diagnosis.

Can't help with the intermittent front wipe issue, sorry!
