Just wondering will a Land Rover dealer add on a warranty to a 2007 TDV8 Range Rover? Most other manufactures will do it, all you have to do is get them to check the car over and then they'll issue a warranty, I was just wondering if Land Rover would do it?

Thanks

Land Rover do offer an extended warranty, I'm not 100% sure but I think it needs to be done by the owner when the 3yr warrenty expires.

Best to have a look at the LR website. My RRS is on the extended warranty, I've claimed on it a couple of times and been happy with the service I've received.
One claim included a new audio head unit.

Do you own the car already, as any used LR sold by a LR dealer will come with 12 months LR warranty as standard, and should be extendable.

They do offer a couple of options.

If the vehicle is within a certain mileage and age criteria (I think it's 5 years and 75k miles), then they offer their standard extended warranty which is quite good (this may be subject to a full check if the vehicle is unfamiliar to them - which cost about £150, you can normally haggle this down to £100). If your car is higher mileage or older then they offer 'select warranty' which from what I understand is basically an outsourced third party warranty administered through Land Rover. This offers lower cover and the vehicle is still subject to a check before they will approve.

Ok thanks for the help.

Quick question do you know by any chance if they get annoyed if the car is modified and won't touch it? For example Porsche will give you a warranty but if ANYTHING is either not standard or the car has EVER been touched by someone else, they just point black refuse to payout. For example if you had a 911 and you change the stereo and a couple months later the engine blew up they will say the warranty is invalid because of the mods. I think Porsche are a lot stricter than most other manufactures though.

Anyone know if Land Rover does this?
Thanks again

They will make exclusions for mods, but this should only be related to the mod.

So in your example of changing the stereo and the engine blowing up, then they would pay out as the mod shouldn't be related to the failure. Unless you've done something really funky with the stereo install.

But hopefully you get my drift.
Common one I have heard relates to any wheels larger than 20's, LR max standard fitment. They may refuse to pay on failures relating to this e.g. suspension, steering etc.
I know that LR Dealers have supplied Overfinch 22's which seem to be treated as a LR approved mod, but not sure how they treat these. Probably would pay.

The main gist I've picked up is - if the mod is supplied through the LR Dealer Network the warranty would probably cover it.
To encourage customers to stay within the network, similar to goodwill payments for failures outside warranty period.

If the car is supplied through LR Dealer Network you get X%, if the car is serviced through the LR Dealer Network you get X% towards the cost of the failure as a goodwill payment from LR.
All to encourage you to stay within the LR Dealer Network for purchases and servicing.

AFAIK the warranty, both extended and select, are adminstered by a third party company using LR as a trading name.
They have been fair on my claims so far.

God, waffled a bit there.

If your motor is in for a service they should if asked nicely do the warranty checks FOC, given they are doing these checks anyway as part of the service schedule.

I have found the extended warranty very fair and the policy has more than covered it's costs so far. IMHO would not run a RR without a decent warranty. From memory the full on extended warranty is approx. £900 per year and the Select £700, breakdown cover is another £100 on top if you want it.

Your local dealer should give you all the info you need, or ring the warranty number here:

Don't know about mods, but guess for e.g if the engine or gearbox had a serious failure they *might* check out the ecu for a re-map. Think they would be less bothered about wheels and the like, especially if a proper OEM Land Rover part like the gent above said? I guess it all comes down the dealer staff and how keen the are?!
