Anyone know when (or if) the Classic ever got a middle 3 point belt? I've peered through a few windows and have only seen what look like lapbelts.

Failing that anyone know when the Defender got them?

I doubt the classic ever got them, as my p38 has a lap belt.

I would sat probably never too.

My 1994 soft dash has a lap strap.

frown That's what I'd feared. And presumably the Disco is the same.

Hmmm, rethink required and a subtle title change too biggrin

Cheers guys. Its not the end of the world because I can always stick SWMBO in the middle and we have her people carrier for longer journeys but it'd be nice to get all of us in in safety without the expense of an L322/D3.

Have you seen that device which turns 2 belts into 3 in the back or 3 into 4, Ive been searching for it, someone reccomended it to me once. Like a seatboard that goes along entire rear seat. i'll keep looking

Multimac? I had them come over when I was trying to avoid a people carrier. They're not bad in forward facing guise, but I discounted it because the rear facing seats were too big and unwieldy and quite steep. It would also mean giving my SWMBO the Dreadnought and having her Focus as a dailybiggrin

And they're £1200ish so a bit OTT for my planned £2k snotter.

ETA Cheers biggrin I had a patient to see mid-reply.

Having said that I'd like a full length Webasto roof (at £750 plus fitting) so the project could well spiral out of control anyway biggrin

What about the rear seats in the 7 seat Disco - do they have 3 point belts?

Looking at pictures the D2 does, not sure about the D1. I'm starting to wonder if a D2 rear seat would fit in a Classic.

Here I've had an email chat and there's no top mount so the belt just runs over the top of the seat, which I have to say I'm a little unsure about...

Yep. I suspect in a crash you'd fold up like you were wearing a lapbelt but with a seat strapped to your back.

I never noticed the lap belt when we bought it, only got 2 kids so wasn't looking for the 3rd belt, but renault managed to put them in the lagunas fron 1993 yet a supposed luxo barge maker can't be arsed. A third belt would need to be roof mounted from the side of the boot and then run through a clip on the top of the seat i think.

These guys http://www.quickfitsbs.com/ fitted a lap and diagonal centre rear belt to my P38 about 15 years ago, highly recommended and not expensive as far as I can recall. Definitely worth giving them a try.
