2011 RR Exterior Design Pack
Discussion
Chaps,
I recently ordered a 2011 RR Autobiography which is due to be delivered in March. I ordered it with the design pack but my dealer has informed that Land Rover are out of stock until June. Obviously I'm not going to to wait until June for the new car and I've been told the kit cannot be ordered as an accessory and fitted at a later date so my options are go without it or my dealer has offered to have the car sent to Overfinch before i take delivery and have one of their body kits fitted.
There are a couple of Overfinch Rangies near where I live. Their nice but may be a touch rude boy for my taste.
I really liked the factory kit.
Thoughts?

Sorry don't agree there... The HST kit never caused a problem on my sport off road, ok it was only light off road. Who in there right mind would take any thing with such value seriously off road, that is what good old series are for.
Even in the brochure it says that it limits the approach angle and ground clearance. I was going to get it fitted, but did not want to limit the car. With regards to who in their right mind would take it off road.........ME. This was on the cars second drive since coming from the factory. It had mm of clearance through the ruts on the front bumper. It ha since been round the track at the nurburgring as well.
I would ask who in their right mind would spend 90k+ on a Range Rover and NOT use it properly.

Thanks for the comments.
I do like the ultimate edition but I need all 5 seats as have 3 kids. Besides these uber-special editions usually depreciate like a stone.
As far as ground clearance goes, I would only do some very mild off-roaing in this car so this wouldn't bother me. If I was to go for a heavy duty session, I'd use a Defender or a Unimog.
What I really want to know is that when the dealer says the exterior design pack cannot be ordered as an accessory, does anyone know if this is true or not?

Thats a great photo. As already said, who would spend upwards of £75k on a RR and not use it properly? It's like saying an Enzo is too expensive to take on track. Keep it up!

I believe 95% of RR owners would disagree with you............
....A RR can only be likened to a fine Swiss watch, your not going to take it down to 300 meters below the sea, but it's nice to know that if you did actually plunge to the depths of the ocean, you could still know the time.............. for the majority of sane owners, its nice to know that it will get you out of a situation but reality and perhaps more importantly it will transport you swiftly and comfortably to the Ritz in pure unadulterated style. ;-)

I've a friend who has gone for the exterior design pack. Car has been delivered, but was so late (apparently due to issues fitting said pack...) that the car is still at the dealers and he's going to get it on 1st March.
Have to say it's not my cuppa. And is not specc'd on mine (due also beginning of March).
But if you really really like it, I think you'd always be disappointed if you didn't wait and got it fitted to yours.
Enjoy it whatever you go for. Autobiography looks epic inside. I've only gone for a standard scabby Vogue

I am about to change my 4 year old Tdv 8 Vogue SE to a new RR but i am beginning to get second thoughts because if you order now you have to wait 3 months and then there is only 18 months until a new model comes out. What made you take the plunge now and not wait another 18 months. I am also worried about Landrovers ability to deliver "on time" these days. I had to wait 4 weeks for a new alternator over Christmas because "they were all going abroad"

I also have a 4 year old TDV8. I'm buying new now because my current car is looking little tired and two years is too long too wait. I'll keep this one until the new one comes out then change again. I buy a lot of cars from this dealer so got a very good deal on the new AB and on the part-ex so made sense to chop in now. Coincidentally, I also had a an alternator go over xmas and had to wait!I've seen a car with the Exterior Design Pack in the flesh now and whist I do prefer it, I'm not going to wait until June. I'm also starting to hear about problems with the company that makes the kits and the delays may get worse. TBH, this is not my primary car and my wife drives it more than i do so I'm going to stick with the standard car and not do the Overfinch thing.

In my case it's because the p-ex was getting leggy and wanted to get as much value out of it as poss.In two years time we'll chop in for
The next 'latest' model.
