Hi guys

I am currently on the look out for a Defender 90 with some off road toys strapped to it. I was originally looking at a 90 with a 2" lift and "average" mud tyres... Now I know average tyres could mean many things in the Land Rover world.

The reason I need to know the height, is the work on my garage conversion started today, and it looks like the builders will have to fit the new roller door at a very similar height to the current one's. To give you an idea, my old 2" lifted Disco 1 could not fit in the garage, by a mere inch or so...

So, if anyone has a lifted, or even stadard 90 with some bigger mud terrain tyres on, could you please measure it for me? Or, for those of you who are far more landy knowledgable thanI, how much taller is a Disco 1 than a 90? if 3 inches or more I think I may get away with it.

Obviously, until my roller door is finished I won't be buying a 90, but, if one definitely won't fit, then I need to make the builder have a re-think, sooner rather than later....

If its a standard 2m height garage door opening then my SVX is 197cm in standard tyres so clears my door by 3cm-looks bloody close if you are not used to it and Ive always got to remember to close the sunroof.

I think you will struggle with AT tyres unless you can find a way to lower the suspension a little without compromising off road ability if thats important to you.

6ft 9" for our standard 110 (TDCi) on OE 16" 235/85 tyres.

Just in case "old money" is useful!
