Hi all

I am looking to buy my friends Landrover Defender 200TDI on a 1992 reg. As I am a complete newbie can you please assist with recommending, Insurance companies and were best to source original parts.

I am looking to do under 3k a year but am currently getting quotes of approx £500 - £600 and am nearly 40. Seems a little steep. Any help would be very much welcome.

Thanking you all in advance.

NFU definitely. Flux are good too. Go and buy LRM or LRO and have a look through them, there are usually loads of specialist insurers.

I'm 31, got a 110 v8 (valued at £5k) as a 3rd car and it costs me about £200 fully comp.

Adrian Flux. £154 for fully comp. I'm 43 and wife is 37. Covers 'minor' mods and off roading, and is for 3000 miles per year on a 1991 Defender 90. Was only £108 last year so could have probably got it down.

Sure term direct - I am 100% new too and also buying a 200 tdi smile so in the same boat. I shopped around and got a quote for me and the missus insured fully comp for £178. I'm 32 with 8 years no claims

I've just insured my newly acquired Discovery 200Tdi with Adrian Flux for £185, and this is without using my NCB as it's a second car. It has some minor mods (tank guard, steering guard, rock sliders and 2" lift). Discos tend to cost more to insure than 90s so this is pretty good IMHO!
