Advice on setting up my buisness motor trade?

Right im just nearing the end of my apprentership and at the moment then sooner i leave the garge i work at the better and most properly be put of a job by september anyway.
I want to know about setting up a buisness within the motor trade am open to most ideas from car sales, normaly independent garage, mobile mechanics or even a mix of everything and after advice from people who have set up there own buisness and what good links there are out there from starting out to everything else involvde.
More information about me im in my final year of apprentership gaining qualification to nvq level 3 in motor vehicle have restored a mgb gt and in the process of building a kit car so have skills set in most things related to the motor trade.
So any advice is much appreciated from people who have set up in the motor trade or any advice from people out of it aswel.

I admire your enthusiasm; but it's a big ask! You're essentially asking us how to identify which sector of the motor industry you're going to enter, what your core competences are, what research you're going to have to do to determine if indeed there is a business to be had, and then how not to fold in the first 12 months like so many other start-ups. Unless you have existing finance, then the whole world of hurt that is securing business finance will also need tackling.
I guess if we knew all of the above we'd be on a yacht somewhere thinking of things other than PHs! I suspect you're the one who's going to have to do the hard work, but here on PHs we can of course help with the odd question along the way. It is however possible to get closer to what you're after in terms of business mentoring, but you're either going to have to rely on an existing contact, a local business link type of organisation, or buy it in (that's where I come in!). You may also wish to start by reading a few business start-up books so that you at least get some insight into the sorts of things you're going to have to consider. Good luck!
