I have a 3 month notice period which I'm prepared to work. If the company decides to let me go before that period, say after a month. Will they have to pay me for the other 2 months ?

I believe that if they WANT you to leave before then they have to pay you "gardening leave"

Even better is to get them to give you a compromise agreement relinquishing them of any responsibility of court cases etc and take your payment as a 'loss of office' payment. This is tax free and means your money goes twice as far!
