Development & manufacturing in China

[ReaderScars]

Is anyone going direct to China for product development and manufacturing? Or do you have an intermediary who you work with to do this?

A UK product development outfit suggested that manufacturers would consider undertaking development work in exchange for a production order.

Another UK product development outfit has just sent a quote which is significantly bigger than expected, so I'd like to consider the alternatives - even if it means flying out there, as long as it's to meet with a trusted and reliable manufacturer.

Any thoughts on this, please?

Most of the companies we work with, including ourselves, are desparate to get stuff away from China.

Quality seems to be taking another pounding and the strength of the dollar is really messing up pricing.
