Just as per title, interested to hear from anyone who has tried petrol pump advertising, and if it worked?

Thanks, Mark

No but my wife did sell the company that first came up with and commercialised the idea!

What's the business/product/offer? What's the aim of the advert? e.g. to generate sales, raise awareness, increase web visits? What's the scope i.e. local targeting or nationwide campaign?

What does 'worked' constitute? I bang this drum endlessly but I hear x didn't work, y didn't work every day in my working life. Clients are always quick to blame the chosen media or salesperson (sometimes justifiably). Very few are willing to look at themselves and ask if they had a clear goal for the advert, had a compelling message/proposition for the customer or a means of accurately measuring the results.

Without knowing the product it's impossible to say if it will 'work'. And if someone comes along and says they did it and it was great (unlikely imo) I'd still be asking myself the questions above because what works for a kids nursery isn't necessarily going to work for a purveyor of sex toys.

If your product is on sale in that garage shop and your message/offer is strong enough then it should be an effective medium.
