Weird, Im also a fair user, and not had this.
However to a degree i think it is needed.
There are far too many "un-registered" cowboys winning work by pricing themselves onto a different league (for cash) where a genuine tradesman cannot compete on price.
Only last month a customer actually told me i was £1800 more expensive (on a re-wire), but told me the other two who quoted whilst half my price clearly didn't have a clue!!
But to many consumers price is all they look at, so they will end up with these numpties!
BTW i agree, rated people looks very good on google when someone google's your company name, as it shows pretty much first result with 5 star's etc!

Im absolutely for vetting people, infact this could end up working in my favour if they decide to vet the cowboys around here. Just seems ridiculous they would suspend my account immediately like that when we are clearly pretty established! However to a degree i think it is needed.

I just finished a lengthy email on my concerns, I even suggested they vet some of the local cowboys round my way....some of the documentation they have asked for
won't be produced by the cowboys.
Good chance they have been getting pressure from either a regulator or someone in the media who is about to expose a huge loophole and they want to clean it up overnight.
The very same thing happened with Groupon a couple of years ago, before the crackdown you could literately make up a company name, build a cheap website and sell thousands of units of rubbish then close it down a week later.
When TS got involved it changed overnight and they introduced whole new department to keep them on the right side of the rules.

One of the reasons I don't like the idea of relying on these types of sites for business. It could be worse than 25% granted, many will rely on them or BNI or similar for most of their work, I have known a few.
All it takes is a disagreement, a change of rules, a scandal or a company going out of business and their major income stream is gone.
Saw your van in Calder St yesterday btw.

Yeah, Thankfully we don't use the sites as much now but there was a time we did really rely on them. Its more so the reviews online we had with them which I'm really pissed about, they have now vanished. All it takes is a disagreement, a change of rules, a scandal or a company going out of business and their major income stream is gone.

Full renovation started at calder, 5 of our vans there today! Left some rubbish out the and the locals have all but cleared it, looking for scrap and old couches lol.
Really hope I have no issues re-instating the account with Rated People....if they don't, surely Id have good cause to go to paper or something, considering how they market them selves, then do that to a loyal customer.
I can't understand why they would immediately suspend a well paying account. Bizarre.

Normal service resumed...Were rather nice to me on phone today, I think they messed up somewhere along the line. They refunded me £1.58 for loss of service. I told them that was an insult, considering the job leads I could have missed over weekend. I suggested its only fair they do "random" checks on other guys around my area.
