DTi grant applications - tips?

I have been charged with putting together a grant application for a small R&D business hoping to match the £0.5m or so it has already raised.

Just wondered whether anyone out there in the PH collective have ever done one of these, whether it was successful and if so can offer any tips that can help strengthen the application. Lots of form filling to be done so want to get it done as best as possible!
