Paying without an invoice

Quick query about a scenario I'm trying to work out.

Business A sells a product + a service online.
Business A takes the money for both product and service.
Business A contracts business B to provide the service. All this is automated.
Business A needs to pay business B for the service. Due to the nature of business B it's unlikely they'll raise an invoice.

Can business A have an online portal where it auto generates invoices for business B, and pays those, as long as business B gets a copy?

Can't Business A just tell Business B that it will pay on receipt of an invoice?

I will say yes

As long as it is agreed by both parties and the invoice shows all the necessary information, then why not?
