Trademark in the US
Discussion
I wonder if anyone has any experience of registering a trademark/logo in the U.S.
It was a relatively easy experience in the UK, but now I need to look at the State as it looks like it will be one of our main area of sales.
So, any advice to offer for doing it myself or is it just easier to engage a professional?

Yes, I've done it. I also found it easy in the UK but the USA can be tougher... I did it myself but came up against issues with the examiner over there - and ended up hiring a pro who sorted it all. Was worth it.
I used this guy: http://www.gerbenlaw.com/ - was affordable and helpful throughout.
If it looks like you'll have no issue at all, then you can do it yourself but if in doubt; don't bother.

I don't remember it being that long - but it was a lengthy process. The main difference seemed to be that in the UK; an examiner may highlight potential conflicts and let you proceed at your own risk / cost - whereas in the US, when the examiner found a potential conflict, in my case; my application was just stopped dead. I suppose it's a better system if you own a TM over there; but it makes applying a touch harder. I got mine in the end after the main conflict in my case never renewed their TM and Josh at that link I posted, managed to reopen my application even though I thought it was done with; my grace period for appeal had long passed.
