I work in small company and we run a number of small start ups (some are neither now) and we've always tested ideas by keeping costs low and building simple websites, marketing them and gauging response (its more complex than that but that's the simple version).

We're looking at a recruitment style business idea now but in a niche. There are lot of competitors and so we're offering something that they don't and won't. So far, so good. But instead of the usual way of testing the idea we're considering using a market research company to call potential clients and pitch them the idea. This way we can find out quicker if its a goer or not.

Have you ever done something like this? And can any of you recommend a company that would do this?

What's the pitch going to be and what buy in/commitment are you going to request from the potential customer?
