Has anyone used a virtual office/receptionist for their business?

Are they actually any good, and do you recommend one?

Thanks

We used one when we started, they are not perfect as if a regular client or supplier calls they can be a bit miffed that they aren't recognised. The receptionist will answer in the same way to everyone. That said it is much better than not having the phone answered.

We used a local company so they had a local sounding accent, don't know if that is important.

We used Answer4U for years and they were good. Like all of these services you do need to spend some time to get the scripts right.

I've used answer.co.uk now for several months and am very happy with the cost and service. They sound very friendly and professional when answering.

Apologies for jumping into someone else's topic but I've always wondered if there would be much of a call for a dedicated internet based 'receptionist' service ? I'm thinking about replies to email enquiries/tweets/facebook etc.
Even if they couldn't give a specific answer then it's always reassuring to receive a personal reply with the promise that someone will call or email you back with the information you require.
For booking requests (restaurants, B&B's etc) it would be a case of calling the establishments quickly and booking over the phone before then replying to the inquiry confirming the request.
It just seems in this day and age not everyone likes to call places, or maybe they're at work etc and just want to fire an email off quickly regarding something.
Apologies again for jumping into the OP topic! smile
