Multi-vendor Etsy style website

[somnv]

I have an idea for a multi-vendor / marketplace website where people can sign up and sell products in a similar way to how it's done on Etsy or ebay (but not an auction). It a fairly small market so I don't want to spend thousands on getting a website developed from scratch but as my IT knowledge is not the best I was ideally like for a template type of solution. There seem to be a few like sharetribe (limited features) and one called Fatbit Yo!kart. There are lots of plugins for Wordpress too but not sure if that'll just be a bit beyond me.

Any tips or nudges in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Norm

If using Wordpress and a plugin is beyond you then you'd be best off engaging a developer (like me), as I can't really think of many simpler ways to do this.

I'd also read up on Lean Startup to test whether your idea has legs and find your market.
