Hi - I am a long time lurker but thought I would post to ask for a smidge of help if possible.

I am toying with the idea of creating a product and have some potential ideas of what I want said product to look like. It's a fairly simple plastic enclosure with a money slot and a few other components.

I haven't the faintest idea where to start to get a design drawn up and a 'proof of concept' manufactured - would it be a case of having some detailed plans drawn up and sending them to an offshore manufacturer for a quote? If so can anybody suggest a potential company or any considerations I need to make?

Thanks in advance

I can help with the detailing drawing, modelling, assembly instructions, and production binaries, and can make the prototype. I charge just £16 per hour. Happy to sign NDA.
CV with my details....

Have you tested the market for this idea?

If it's a unique product is start at the patent office before anything else. You would be surprised all the stuff that's already registered and therefore protected.

Thanks very much! Once I have more details I will likely be in touch!

The product is not one that will be for sale as such, it will help to generate charity revenue. A glorified money box if you will.

Not looking to make any money from this smile

Good point, I have had a brief look and cannot see anything but I will double check to ensure I don't create something that is already in existence!

Charity revenue? Not a box to dump all forms of coins into regardless of currency and choose which charity it does to from a built in computer? If so, there's been one kicking around the coworking space I'm bumming around in in Bangkok...

No, this will be targeting one single charity and be focussed on targeting homeless issues.
