Recommend me a printer?

Pretty happy with my HP x476dw which is about two years old now and does all of the above. My criteria was needing duplex ADF and easy scan-to-email functionality, plus a 500-page tray with the option of adding a second. When I was looking I found the 500 page tray pretty much separated the business gear from the home office stuff.
Very happy with my Kyocera colour laser. Disappointed with the Samsung I had before which lasted a year.
Do you need colour? If so, you will be pushing your budget to get a colour laser + fast print + large document drawer + multi-function.
I'd also highly recommend Printerbase as a good company to buy from. Very knowledgeable and can advise you on exactly what you might need, plus give printout samples if colour quality is important for you.

Do you have one in mind that can print/scan doubled sided quickly?
I've got two Xerox 8860s. You can pick up the 8860MFP used from eBay for a few hundred quid. That's got the document scanner on top. New, they were about £2500, and the new version is the same cost. There are other laser based units but you will find the running costs for printing hundreds of pages at a time 3 - 10 times as much as solid ink, so the payback period will be short.
Cheaper printers generally have larger consumable costs. The cheapest printers usually have horrific consumable costs for more bulk printing.
