Hi all,

I've recently started a sourcing company and plan also to act as a kind of broker to match up buyers and sellers of classic cars. I will post a link once the site is fully operational but I would appreciate any feedback from ph'ers as to what you would like to see if you were to use these services.

I am planning on specialising in 80's and 90's modern classics as this is the era of cars I know the most about.

Many thanks,

Sam

Can't say its something I'd consider or pay for. What's to stop me looking online and finding people's adverts?

Or if I'm the seller, then I'd advertise it myself.

I could perhaps see this working for very high end cars, F40, Enzo etc etc as perhaps those sort of clients are cash rich and time poor. Not sure how much appetite there would be at the normal end of the market...

The whole idea is to save people time. E.g if you liked the look of a car say in Edinburgh and lived in London you may not be inclined to travel all that distance to view it. Same on the seller side really. A lot of people may lack time and feel a bit nervous of the whole process of selling privately and end up selling at a reduced price to a trade buyer. It's all about saving time and adding assistance into the process. You have to bear in mind that not everyone is a car buff like us Pistonhead posters!

How does the money work? Do you buy the car for them and sell it on at a margin, or check it out a la RAC, get them to pay for it direct then send them a bill?

I think people who are too nervous to buy privately may be too nervous to use a 'carfinder'. But if you can find me the car I want before it's advertised and sell it to me for trade + £500, you have a deal.
